After much careful consideration, we have chosen to pursue other opportunities given to us.

Much of our decision was made based on the wonderful probability of Excelsior receiving a much needed grocery store.

After an intensive interview process to ensure our customers would receive the same great service that they have come to know for 90 years; we have chosen

Certified Auto Repair as our successor! They are located at 4700 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park, MN, and their phone number is 952-471-0471.  They have an excellent facility, qualified technicians and have promised us with certainty that they will provide amazing service to our customers.  They will also be honoring all of our loyalty key tags as well as the Extreme loyalty cards.

Mason Motors would like to thank you, our valued customers and our family, for the years of loyalty you have given us. In 1922 Ray Mason answered the call to open a respectable service garage in the heart of Excelsior. His service garage soon grew to incorporate a sales department where he sold the Moon, Star and Durant automobiles. The Chrysler franchise was added in 1926. Ray soon began to realize that he needed more space to keep his sales and service facility growing. Downtown Excelsior did not have the room to accommodate Ray’s vision, so he was forced to move “way out of town” in 1946, to our current location. Many people can remember driving by and seeing Ray with his signature hat and cigar, standing out front waiving to friends. Ray passed away in 1987 peacefully in his sleep after spending the day at his home away from home, Bill Mason Chrysler Plymouth.

Bill Mason began working at the dealership when he was in college and needed to relieve his father from some of his duties. Over the years, Bill began to assume more responsibility, while Ray continued to spend his time here greeting guests chewing on his cigar. Bill had assumed complete responsibility for running the dealership by the late 1970’s. He also became a staple of the community with his involvement in many different local groups, such as the chamber of commerce, the planning commission and historical society. Bill is still very involved in the operations of the dealership today.

Ryan Mason had spent most of his life around the dealership, before beginning his career in the summer of 2000. After that summer, Ryan returned to the University of St.Thomas to finish his degree in Entrepreneurship. After graduating in 2001, Ryan jumped right into the sales position he had left to finish college one year earlier. He worked in that position for a few years while familiarizing himself with all aspects of dealership operation. In 2004, Ryan began the NADA Dealer Academy to help hone in his skills in the auto industry. After graduating in December 2004, Ryan began his new position as the General Manager. He has been in that position ever since.

Business continued as normal until the fateful day of June 9th, 2009 when Mason Motors learned that they were no longer a New Chrysler and Jeep dealer. After many years of service with Chrysler Corporation, Chrysler Financial, Chrysler Service Contracts and Mopar Parts, we were one of the hundreds of dealers across the country to have their franchise terminated. When Bill Mason Chrysler Jeep was terminated, we had the highest sales and service customer satisfaction in the twin cities. When Bill Mason Chrysler Jeep received the termination letter from Chrysler Corporation, we had 45 new vehicles in stock that had to be sold within a month. Thanks to our loyal customer base as well as our local community, we were able to sell all but 5; which were sold to other dealers. Bill Mason Chrysler Jeep was on its way to becoming Mason Motors Full Service Garage and Certified Pre-owned Sales.

The first transition Mason Motors made was in the service department. We added new tools and new technology to service Import as well as Domestic vehicles. This was a move that will go well with our expanding inventory of hand selected pre-owned vehicles that include all makes and all models. We are looking forward to what the future will bring and we promise to give back to the community the same way they have given to us over the years.
